Western Regional Gathering

Starts: Friday, October 13th 2017 at 7:00 pm
Ends: Sunday, October 15th 2017 at 1:00 pm

One of the big events in our congregation’s year is coming up on October 13th to 15th. We will be hosting Unitarians from across the Western Region of the Canadian Unitarian Council for the annual Fall Gathering. It will be an interesting weekend of conversation, learning, and fun.

Our keynote speaker will be Rev John Pentland of Calgary’s Hillhurst United Church, talking about energizing a congregation, welcoming newcomers, and growing in depth and numbers. Other workshops will address improving a congregation’s visual identity, and welcoming young adults.

A second stream will feature Rev Samaya Oakley and Jeff Webber leading a workshop on Truth, Healing and Reconciliation, using materials created by Samaya and Rev Meg Roberts.

The third stream will include creating a piece of art with Hedda Zahner, and singing Songs of Social Significance with Tony Turner and Jane Perry.

We’ll have a delicious dinner on Saturday evening followed by musical entertainment.
Conference attendees of all ages will share in the Blanket Exercise, an experiential activity sharing the post-contact reality of Canada’s indigenous peoples.

While several in the congregation will be volunteering to make the weekend a success, we are also hoping that many people will attend the gathering. So please mark your calendars, and plan to attend!
